President’s Corner

Happy Birthday to Family Services of Greater Houston! In 2004, we are celebrating 100 years of service to the Houston community – a major milestone. On February 20th, we kicked off our year-long centennial celebration with our 100th Anniversary Gala at the InterContinental Houston.

The event was a wonderful success, raising more than $550,000 to support the services we provide to children and families throughout Houston. We are grateful to have had more than 600 guests in attendance at the gala, including President George H.W. Bush and Mrs. Barbara Bush, the honorees of the evening, who support our mission to strengthen children and families. Thanks to our board members and community supporters for making this our most successful fundraiser!

In addition to the support of our board members, I would like to thank our dedicated volunteers for their hard work and commitment to Family Services in recognition of National Volunteer Week. Volunteers generously donate their time throughout the year and provide Family Services and our clients with valuable support. We are very grateful to have them as part of our organization!

We are pleased to announce that our Individual and Family Counseling Program has received the “Best Practices Award” from Mental Health Corporations of America for the fifth year. We are very proud of this award and the accomplishment achieved by our counseling program. Clients are definitely benefiting from counseling, as demonstrated in our client success story.

I am looking forward to an exciting year-long centennial celebration filled with memorable events and achievements. Thank you for sharing in Family Services’ success!
