"Dreams of a White Christmas" to come true for 400 youth and their families

WHAT: Family Services of Greater Houston is hosting the 2nd annual Ensuenos White Christmas, a winter festival for over 400 youth and their families from the Ensuenos del Futuro program. Family Services Ensuenos del Futuro ('Dreams for the Future' in Spanish) is an award-winning substance abuse prevention, intervention and education program in 22 HISD schools. The event is generously underwritten by Holthouse Foundation for Kids.

WHY:

Over 500 people are expected to attend the festival, which will feature snow, face painting, balloon animals, holiday crafts, a moonwalk, petting zoo and photos with Santa. Holiday ornaments and Christmas cards will be given as gifts to two local homeless shelters - the Villa Guadalupe and the Open Door Mission.

WHAT ELSE: For the past 98 years, Family Services has provided a variety of health and human services to meet the changing needed of families in the Houston community. In 2001, Family Services provided over 90,000 direct service hours to individuals and families seeking counseling, education and support services.
