Bilingual Case Manager

Family Services of Greater Houston is seeking a bilingual Case Manager (English/Spanish). This position is responsible for the provision of quality, comprehensive and well-integrated case management services to diverse populations, such as elderly; families in financial crisis; HIV+ individuals and their affected family members; undocumented; and individuals at-risk for homelessness. 

Responsibilities include the provision of both direct service (e.g., face to face or telephone encounters with clients – in-home or otherwise, client’s service providers, client’s significant others and/or family members) an average of 4 hours per day or 20 hours per week, as well as indirect services (including, outreach, record documentation, management of client caseload, travel, client follow-up and other duties as assigned).  Case Manager will be responsible for maintaining a minimum caseload as determined by the position’s funding source. All case managers will be cross-trained and required to work as a team.  Must maintain knowledge about and adhere to agency policies and procedures, as well as compliance with funding source’s requirements and standards.  Must develop knowledge and remain abreast of community resources. Must have excellent time management skills and have the ability to multi-task in a rapid paced environment.  The position reports to the Senior Vice President of Community Services.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in social or behavioral sciences is required. Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year paid work experience within the field of social services
  • Experience, knowledge, and skills in client job development
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) with written and verbal fluency in English and Spanish
  • Experience working with diverse populations and HIV infected and affected communities preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and data management systems

Loan Associate, Ways to Work Program

Family Services of Greater Houston is seeking a full-time Loan Associate to support the coordination of an automobile loan program for low-income clients in order to help them rebuild their credit and improve their employment and quality of life. This position will work in our Houston/Heights Office location.

The Loan Associate will provide support to the program, including conducting telephone inquiries, assisting with the processing of loan documents, maintaining client records, interfacing with clients, scheduling, and other duties as assigned.  This position requires a well-organized, versatile individual with the ability to multi-task. This position will report to the Ways to Work Loan Coordinator.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University is preferred
  • Direct experience working with low-income clients is a prerequisite
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, oral and presentation skills is required

ExxonMobil Summer Intern - Information Technology Programmer Analyst II

Family Services of Greater Houston is seeking a summer Intern - Information Technology Programmer Analyst II to work in our Central office location in the Houston/Heights area.

This Intern position will be immersed in the Information Systems of Family Services. Possible projects include:  Assistance with coding modules for dataTRAQ, our web-based time and effort application product (www.dataTRAQ.net), continuing implementation of Crystal Reports to management and coordinators, dataTRAQ troubleshooting, education and marketing.  In addition the Intern will assist with the on-going projects and operations of Family Services' Information Technology team, as well as other agency activities. This internship will report to the Vice President of Operations.

Qualifications:

  • Intern must be an undergraduate college student majoring in computer science, information management or a related field. Students from other disciplines with relevant computer programming skills will also be considered
  • Intern must be available to complete the full 8 week internship
  • Requires a basic understanding of computer programming / database design preferably with Microsoft.NET framework and Microsoft SQL Server, and a basic knowledge of web-based program design
  • Must have a basic understanding of local area networks based on Microsoft Back Office products including Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, and Microsoft SQL Server 2000
  • Experience in the design, implementation and support of client server relational databases is preferred
  • Experience with Crystal Reports is a plus
